Top 5 Ways to Be a More Productive Guy

Let's face it, between work or school, friends, girls, and all the stuff in between – it's getting harder and harder to keep up each day. The problem with trying to stay productive is that you will overwhelm yourself if you don't slow down, only making you less productive and more stressed out over your lack of productivity. Not to worry. Whether you want to get more done or free up more time, here are five tips to instantly make you a more productive guy.

1. Keep a List

We usually don't need to do all that much with our day but when we are thinking about all of the things we still have to do it can get overwhelming. Worse, you might completely forget an important task. When everything is written down, we not only remember all the things we need to get done but also see a finite list of things to get done – as opposed to the seemingly infinite amount of work that can never fit into your day that we picture in our minds.

2. Sleep

Who has time for sleep when there is so much to do? Well if you want to stay on top of your game physically, mentally, and sexually, you had better catch some Zs. More time in lieu of sleep may seem like a productive idea but a burned out and tired you is never going to function at the same level as a well rested, alert, and recharged you. You wouldn't leave the house with your phone battery charged halfway, don't leave without fully recharging yourself.

3. Get Rid of the Unimportant

One of the reasons we all struggle with productivity is the flurry of distractions coming from everywhere. You need to focus on tasks to get them done right and quickly. This means avoiding checking e-mails and texts, talking to co-workers, surfing the interwebs, or other distractions until you are done. It also means getting the unimportant tasks that you could easily put off, delegate, or completely not do so that you can focus on the stuff you need to do.

4. Do a Little at a Time

A big task or project can seem overwhelming – but only if you look at it as one huge task. Breaking it up into smaller tasks and working on it bit by bit will instantly make you less stressed out about the task and help you complete it much faster. Look at it this way, if you were a quarterback facing the Steelers defense, you would never be able to win if you were just looking for a touchdown every time out there. But when you take it bit by bit, and go ten yards at a time, even the worst offense can get the job done.

5. Take Breaks

Just as you need sleep to recharge your battery, sometimes you need to take a time out to keep your battery from getting overheated. Studies have found that the best way to do this is to create a routine built around work and breaks every hour. This can be a 15 minute break for every 45 minutes of work or even a 30 minute break for every 30 minutes of work. Just tell your boss Manwall says all those breaks make you more productive.
