You know what the 4th of July means to most guys? Drinking, blowing stuff up, and eating a hell of a lot of BBQ! Buying beer is easy, lighting fireworks is typically simple (at least before the 6th beer), but sometimes the good BBQ can be a problem.

Now it is a known fact that a man who can cook up good food gets laid more often than men who can't cook worth a shit. Plus bro's appreciate another bro that brings good grub to a party. So let's make sure you have the women swooning while the boys give you hi-fives at this year's 4th with some easy and delicious recipes.

Since we are men these really don't involve a lot of work....

Manwall BBQ Favorites

Pulled Pork n Coke - Want some tender, delicious, and easy pulled pork for sandwiches that will leave people drooling? You need: 6-8 pounds of pork roast (shoulder), black pepper, garlic pepper, 2 liters of Coca-Cola, 20-30 ounces of your favorite BBQ sauce (I like Big Daddy's Carolina Style), a crock pot (borrow one from mom if needed), and a strainer. You will also want some burger buns or rolls.

Take the roast rub in the black pepper and garlic pepper then drop it in the crock pot. Pour in the Coke until it is covered (for variety you can use Cherry Coke). Set the pot on low-med and let it cook for 8-9 hours. Strain the pork/coke mix and place on a carving board (wipe out the crock pot). You can use 2 forks to shred the pork in a few minutes. Toss it back in the pot and add the BBQ sauce then stir it around. Keep the pot on low for an hour and it is ready to serve hot and delicious.

Spicy Slaw - Since real men don't do veggies we have a spicy cole slaw that can goes as a side but goes even better on top of the pork in a sandwich. Take the following and mix into a bowl: 1 head shredded cabbage, 2 grated carrots, 1 thinly sliced red onion, 2 chopped green onions, 1 sliced red chile. In another bowl mix the dressing: 1.5 cups of mayo (low fat), 1/4 cup mustard (spicy), 1 tablespoon cider vinegar, a squirt of lemon and a pinch of sugar. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mix and toss then shove it in the fridge for 2 hours. You can add salt and pepper before serving.

Sick Potato Salad - Last but not least we need something with taters! While the slaw is chilling you can whip this up. You need 5 pounds of potatoes, 1 pound of lean sliced bacon, 1.25 cups of mayo, 2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce (whatever is on the pork), 2 tablespoons mustard (spicy from slaw), 2 tablespoons cider vinegar, diced celery, minced red onion, 1/4 cup of chopped parsley.

Toss the tater in a pot and fill it up with salted water. Crank of the heat to med-high and boil for about 35 minutes till they slide off a fork. Then drain and slice them into small cubes. Cook the bacon and dry while the pot boils. Mix together the mayo, mustard, vinegar, and BBQ sauce; pour over the potatoes and stir around so they are covered. Let them sit for about 15-20 mins to soak it in. Slice the bacon into bits and add with the celery, parsley, and onion with a little salt and pepper stir and let it sit another few minutes.

Putting it all together

You can make all of this stuff for a sweet BBQ if you plan ahead and start early with the pork. Since the prep times vary and it all sits well you won't be in a hurry at all. Start the pork early in the day then 2 hours before feeding time make the slaw and then the salad. Grab a beer. Then finish the pork, stir the salad, grab another beer and set the table before you bullshit for a bit before serving it up.
