Loving Bill Murray

If loving Bill Murray is wrong then I don't want to be right. With the Pebble Beach Pro-Am Golf Tournament, the world had another dose of Bill and his funny stories. Some people have raised a stink about how Bill Murray takes away from the game by dressing up in funny outfits and clowning around. But is that so wrong?

It is a Pro-Am where those pro golfers team up with a bunch of celebs and sports athletes who like to golf so I really don't get what the problem is. If I was Phil Mickelson and I had my choice of playing with Bill, Kevin Costner, Michael Bolton, or Tony Romo I know who I would want to spend a round with; Bill Murray and his funny stories and silly antics.

Here is a partial list of people that played this year: Jim Harbaugh, Huey Lewis, Chris O'Donnell, Chris Berman, Harris Barton, Matt Cain, Nick Sabean, Andy Garcia, Kenny G, and Don Cheadle. Okay I would want to play with Don as well because he seems pretty damn cool, but other than that who looks really fun on that list?

Sure it would be nice to hang out with Romo or another athlete or movie star; especially if you were a big fan of them or their team. But at the same time, some people are so focused and reserved that you don't get a chance to just relax and enjoy the moment. Not so with Bill. He plays to the crowd, jokes, and has fun. It's not like he isn't serious about the game. The guy won the Pro-Am in 2011 and has a pretty nice game finishing as high as fourth in the team competition before that. Even in all the pictures with his weird hats and outfits you see him at the finish position of a nice looking swing.

Bill Murray is an icon on and off the course. He has been playing and entertaining on the Pro-Am since 1992. With his career in Hollywood I am sure you would hear some funny stories or insider anecdotes between the tees.

I would think the request list to be his partner must be pretty long each year. Of course some guys like Tiger Woods or other players who are all serious all the time probably don't want to play with Bill. They haven't learned to relax and have more fun in life.
