A Brutal Reality Check for Chad Johnson

You often hear reporters ask athletes, "How do you know when it is time to retire?" Chad Johnson can say he was given a sign.

Yesterday he Tweeted, "That awkward moment when you realize you're not on Madden13 and have to create yourself..."

Yeah buddy; maybe it is time to call it a day...

But wait! Chad, did you check the free agent market? Woohoo!

Yup the ole Ochocinco is right there between top dawgs Roy Williams, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Patrick Crayton, and Mike Sims-Walker! Whew, now he doesn't have to go in and add himself because he can just acquire the great number 85 via free-agency.

Then again when you look at Chad's Madden stats he might want to consider just adding himself. Truly this must be the sign for him that it is time to retire.

Only two stars for consistency, "No" for Clutch, "Yes" for Drops Open Passes, and of course he doesn't fight for extra yards. Those aren't exactly great traits to be known for. Regardless of past production it does feel like the people at Madden have Chad's true value pretty accurately depicted.

Maybe that is how players should try and determine if they should retire or not each year. When they stat themselves out on Madden compared to a rookie or bench player and realize that even they wouldn't start themselves then maybe it is time to look for a career beyond the pigskin.

I still have lots of love for you Chad, but just saying...which team would you put yourself on and who would you start instead of based on these attributes?

Still, lots of props for Chad taking it like a man on his Twitter account with Tweets like, "I got to start life over and create a new one..." and "Don't feel bad, my black ass messed up, I made the bed now I gotta lay n it RT." He was talking about Madden right?

At least he isn't playing the victim. Hopefully he can manage to rebound and find a team to play with this year on Madden 13.
